the rolling stones in orchestra

Is this the Andew Loog Oldham produced thing with a version of "This May Be The Last Time" which was the cause of one of the biggest sampling court cases in the UK?

Penfold ....... Do you remember the case with this particular record? The Verve sampled a string intro for "Bittersweet Symphony". Turned out to be an appropriate title because although the record was number one for four or five weeks The Rolling Stones got all the royalties. It isn't even a Stones' record that was sampled. It is a cover version that doesn't sound much like the original but ...... they have the writing credits so they call the shots!

I was going to say they really don't like being sampled but I guess you can say they love it.

They didn't have much luck, The Verve. They already had to change their name from just Verve after the old jazz label complained & broke up soon after this incident.
