i know this has been posted loads of times, but please help a clueless guy out. i've tried searching for answers but just find different people's theories.
does anyone have the definitive correct answer on how connect the 1000 and the microkorg so that i can record the synth's sounds onto the mpc into sequences etc?
if so could anyone give me a step by step idiots guide of how to do it and i'd be eternally grateful. cheers....

If you just want to sample Mikro sounds:

1: Connect line out from Mikro to the line in of Mpc.

2: On the Mpc press mode and hit the pad record.

3: Adjust rec volume whille playing the sound in Mikro.

4: Adjust the threshold to minimum.

5: Hit rec and play the sound.

6: Press stop and then press keep.

that's cool, but i was wondering in terms of not being just able to sample sounds off the microkorg, but to actually play the microkorg through the mpc if you get me. any tips?
i've got a rough idea of how to do it but i just can't crack it, at the moment i have:
-midi out microkorg > midi in mpc

-midi out mpc > midi in microkorg

-all the correct settings as listed in instruction book with regards to connecting mpc to an external midi device

from what people have told me i think i've got to set the mpc to receive the correct channel and also tell the microkorg to use the correct channel. prob is, i'm not sure what the correct channel is etc...
if anyone could help me with this plus any tips on how to set up the microkorg accordingly you'd make me one hell of a happy guy!

I don't own a MicroKorg BUT this should get you close.
midi out A (mpc)-micro midi in
micro midi out- mpc midi in 1
mode: midi on mpc-active track receive channel:ALL
soft thru: AS TRACK
main page type-midi pgm:off midi: 1A
put micro to midi channel 1 with sound of choice and play

well...

The connections are correct.

Now you have to put a Mpc track in midi mode instead of drum mode(in main window).
Check in Mikro witch midi chanel you're using and turn the Mpc midi track into the same chanel so you they can comunicate.

You also have to select Mpc as master and Mikro as slave.

This way you can sequence Mikro with Mpc.

i dont think that using the MIDI over drum would make a difference if you're only using 1-2 octaves (correct me if im wrong)

basically, you just need to play on your micromoog, and hit record on the MPC once the cables are in. there is no setup.

for me, i can create a new sequence, load samples, plug in my hardcore to the max yamaha PSR 195. im only recording the performance data form the keys, i dont actually use its sound so i only have it going to the midi in of my MPC. if you want to play it back, you need to find the track you've recorded into, and change the midi channel to something. if you're using connection A or B on hte back you must change this appropriately. i.e. 16 A if you're using the A channel for example.

I finally got to test the MicroKorg, and I think it is EXCELLENT for bass lines.

could anyone help....i connected my microkorg with my 1k (midi in - out and vice versa), all settings as said in the instructions, i press rec+play start, play on the microkorg, then it goes to overdub, you can see on the mpc that midi data has come in, but it doesn´t send back the notes to the microkorg... the microkorg is line1 and mpc line2 on my mixer. i tried everything and don´t get it. please don´t tell me: read the manual/search the forum, i did, but it didn´t work for me, could anyone tell me EXACTLY what to do? maybe i´m stupid or whatever... thanksalot
