Hi,

I want to sync the FutureRetro Mobius Stepsequencer to the MPC60's midi clock and want the Mobius to send his midi notes/events into the MPC60 so the MPC60 can pass the midi to all of my synths and record the patterns created on the Mobius. I set the midi on the Mobius to external, and connect a midi out from the MPC60 to the midi in of the Mobius. The syncing part works fine, the Mobius syncs to the MPC60. But when I want the midi to get in the MPC60, it goes wrong. The MPC60 doesn't get any midi, or doesn't recognize it?

I connect the midi-out of the Mobius to a midi in of the MPC (tried both midi in slots, but no luck on both of them, with my masterkeyboard working just fine on both midi in slots). Again, the syncing works fine, but the MPC60 doesn't get the midi from the Mobius. Tried different midi channels, no luck. And when I sync to the MPC and directly connect the Mobius to one of my synths it also works fine.

Maybe it's something with the midi filter? Tried various things but no luck so far.

I hope somebody can help me

P.S. I have OS 2.12 on the MPC60 MK I

OK, I'm not sure if this works on OS 2.12, but the way I have used other midi sequencers in the past is to just use it as the controller, don't worry about midi syncing it until you get it working, just send the midi out of the mobius to the MPC 60 midi in, then the MPC midi out to your synth, set the track midi channel so you hear the Mobius playing the synth, then press record.

I'm not sure if there are any limitations in OS 2.12 or the mobius that would prevent this, but on OS 3.10 (which you should sell the mobius and get, immediately!!) you need to set it to soft thru on, OS 2.12 may not have that. But it should be possible.

But the problem is that I cannot hear the Mobius play another synth through the MPC60! And there is an option soft thru and it's on.

And at the same time my masterkeyboard (ASR-10) works on the other midi in! Switching midi-in channels has no change. And not syncing has no influence, de MPC60 doesn't records the midi or links it through to my synths. But the midi is there, cause directly controlling a synth works fine!

I've done this with midi step sequencers, but I have 3.10,

Maybe it has something to do with the midi channel the Mobius is set to transmit on?

I just looked at the 2.0 manual, and this should totally be possible, I would suspect midi channel assignments, make sure the 60 channel is matching the synth, and the mobius transmit channel is sending on the same channel as the ASR 10, perhaps your 60 isn't set to receive on all channels, that's the only thing I think it could be.

aargh,

it really drives me mad!

I checked all midi channels... that is I checked all midi channels the Mobius can send Midi data on...
I checked both midi in channels, used at the same time with synths playing... Both midi in's were receiving and routing the midi data at the same time.
I checked the midi-in-filter, and turned alle midi except midi-notes and basic midi data off... but with no result...

So the MPC isn't diggin' the midi data from the Mobius, and all my other synth don't have a problem diggin' it.

So one thing... maybe it creates a midi-loop or something, wich I think it doesn't... but if it does, it should at least freak out on midi-data? I only see led's moving on the Mobius and that's it... no sound or midi events on a synth whatsoever... and midi channel of synths are correct... cause when all is syncing, when I play the masterkeyboard it does plays as it suposed to...

very frustrating!

can you get the mobius to play samples on the 60?

That would be a good step, to see if the 60 is getting the midi data from the mobius.

The midi out from the mobius connected to the midi input of the 60, go into step edit and play a pattern on the mobius that has midi notes, you should see the notes appear on the step edit screen.

ok, here's the strange thing in full effect:

I disconnected the midi out of the mpc connected to the midi in of the mobius, so the Mobius isn't synced anymore. Turned the Mobius to INT, wich means it plays on internal sequencer. Put the MPC in step-edit mode, and turned on a pattern on the Mobius wich is really playing, considering the moving led's, and the sound coming from a synth when I directly connect the Mobius to one of my synths. :?:

Again tried all midi channels of the Mobius to send on...1-16
No luck...

I cann't think of anything else... It can not be a midi loop, it can not be a broken midi in, it can not be a broken midi cable, it can not be the mobius to be broken (cause it's proven to send working midi data out)...

I just email Roger Linn then

So did the notes get added in the step edit screen?

You really should get OS 3.10, see if route 66 still has them for 120, It may be how the old OS handles midi.
