How are you proud of owning an XL?

Damn all you xl cats.2k represent!!!!

Just got mine I used to have a boss sp505 so this is a god send! the sp505 was cold with the sound it made it dull and lifeless, the 2000xl is so warm and I sample drmz through valves on my electribe mx. Yet to cut up a loop from some live bizzness.
The only thing I'm having trouble getting to grips with is the pads, I get second hits sometimes even if I'm quick with my finger? is this something to do with aftertouch can I change the sencitivity, do i do this with vol modulation screne? I just wanna hit a pad sometimes even with 2 fingers and if the second finger hits a fraction later I dont always want that second hit and if you repeat fast with just one you still get this 2 hit thing? I assume this is for drum rolls etc but can't find a section in the manual. Any help would be cool on this one.
Anyway I'm a newboy virgin so big up ya chess from the uk massive.

it's your machine being new more than anything I'd say...the pads are a little stiff, and you finger bouncing ever so slighty causes that double hit...


once you break it in a bit, and get used to hitting the pads you'll forget about it...


...also try pressing the pads as opposed to tapping them (when applicable I know sometimes it's the feel of drumming you want)

long beofre i got into production i had spent many hours at music stores jamming on the mpc. and from seeing many live acts, from artists i liked i knew this was the machine for me. i had been making music with computers, but love a machine a can stand up and bash out on, and take around the place with the peice of mind that its a stable workhorse.

I love my 2KXL. I got it from a dude that bought the 4K and all he di with the 2KXL was loop with it. The pads had never really been beat on. He had it for like 3 years and 1 1/2 was just sitting collecting dust. A mutual acquaintance ran into dude and gave him my number said I was looking for an MPC. Dude called and said I got a job for you a few (3) training sessions on mixes and couple pointer on sounds and the XL is your. I was like right . He said "I'll bring it tonight". Man I schooled that dude like he was going to Harvard. His beats dramatically improved. For an MPC2KXL . I showed him stuff like slicing on the 2K and all kinds of stuff just imagining things and making them happen. I showed him that the 4K can do that stuff and more so he was happy. Then hipped him to recycle. YO! I have seen the 60 (a nother producer I know got one), I played with the 4K and 2K. All I know is I got a slammen DAW and a 2KXL so I am not missing the 4K and can give a fart about any thing other than the 2KXL.

damn enough of this bring a tear to my eye mpc talk, stuff go make beats on your mpc and smoke one, or dont i dont care..just make hot shit..sorry i really dont feel this way go on with the beautiful i remember when i first made love to my mpc, i fed it chocolate milk in the morning and whenever it wanted after that for years to come...im proud that mpc never gets pregnant when i **** in it...even though that would be nice to have kids with it could you imagine...

I did a lot of homework before I bought mine. Read some magazines and decided the 2000xl is what I wanted. I have had it for a year but just now getting into it. I'm debating over the fx because I have Roland 1680 with an fx card installed so I might as well use that.....[/b]

I did alot of homework too. I had my mind set on the Roland sp808 about 6 years ago. I had the Roland drum machine collection (tb-303 - tr909) and wanted to keep Roland products.


This was until I found out one of my troops had an MPC2000. He showed me what it could do and I was really impressed with it. He then told about the new MPC2000XL that just came out and said if he could sell his straight MPC2K, he'd mos def get the new XL. Plus he told me to read up on producers and see what they use. I had seen SP's, Mpc2K, Mpc3K's. I'm a cheap bastard so I went with the XL in 2000 and I'm glad I did.

Long live the MPC 2000XL, I use it for just about everything in my studio and love it, I learnt how to use logic, cubase etc, when I did my production degree and though they give you more features, loose some soul in the mix.

I love my mpc 2kxl. ima say this. With a mpc 2kxl and recycle 2.0 your moster and add a romper keyboard and va keyboard your on top at every point. Now days the mpc is as strong or weak as what your surround it with. I myself don't like all in one units. I like that I can't do it all in 2kxl. Everything stays fresher when you have a tool for each job.

i'm a damn proud owner of an XL, for a couple years i was borrowing the homies here and there, i produced a couple albums using other peoples equipment. i went from making beats with a casio keyboard and a 4 track to a couple different drum machines to the dr. sample and after going thru all this ghetto production after using an XL i realized that it did exactly what i was doing wiht like three different machines. so it's like my dream machine yo... no joke... ITS MY BABY
