I was wondering if there was an easier way of finding the BPM of a sample other than tapping the tempo? I heard several computer programs can figure out the BPM of a sample immediately and automatically. Is the only way to do that with one of these programs, or is there a way to find out just as easily on the MPC 4000?
Hi,
In order for the MPC 4000 to correctly slice and sequence a sample (if your slicing and dicing), you have to have the MPC correctly determine the BPM of the sample. You can do this with what Akai gave us and do not have Tap the BPM tap or use any external programs.
What you do.
1) Press [SAMPLE] key
2) Press Soft Key 2 for Trim/Loop
3) Scroll down to where you can change the Start and End time of sample and highlight
the word "END"
4) Turn Jog wheel to "BEAT"
5) Select the correct number of beats that this sample uses.
6) Whala --- you now have the BPM of the sample displayed
Cheers,
