wassup . I need some advice. I got the mpc1000 but someone want to trade for a fully blown out asrx pro with full memory , eight outs , and the urban dance card expansion.
Right now i use a sp1200. So i never really got into using the mpc1000, and i hear that the sampler on the asrxpro sounds alot better than the mpc1000.
Do you think i should trade or just maybe cop an ensoniq dp4 rack for fx and use that with the mpc? thanks in advance for any insight.

asr x pro goes for around 400-500 on ebay where as the MPC 1000 goes for 700-1000

If you're willing to lose out on a couple hundred dollars I would go for it, but I would stick with it if I were you.

i don't know about this

seems to me that what the mpc does is replicated exactly what comes out of your computer. it doesn't change it at all (unless you want it to). asrs and sps alter the sound. i'd rather have total control on what the wav sounds like from the pc using dx plugins and stuff rather than go for something that "sounds a lot betteR" because that just means it's that much more out of my control.

i'm not dissing the specific sound certain samplers have at all, but when you can acheive a comparably similar sound at your whim (and even mix and match sampler sounds in the same song!!) you're gonna have a better product.

If you have a sequencing option thats better than the 1000 then maybe because the asrx sampler is a little better in my opinion but the sequencer sucks. I have never found a sequencer to match the mpc line so you may wanna stick with the 1000.

I hope this helps.

I have na ASRx Pro and it's a piece of s@#%! I'll trade you my asrx for your 1000 too. ASRx is good for a cheep sequencer/sampler to start with. OS is horable, I have nothing good to say about asrx bests it's cheap!

thanks for the offer but i already made the trade and i will say right off the bat that the asrx pro sounds a million times better than the mpc1000. But that is only my opinion. I havent had a problem with the o.s. yet. Its pretty easy to use as well. The sequencer does hiccup when you tweak as it plays back but i dont use the onboard sequencer at all. So its all good.
The fx and filters blow out the mpc1000 and 2000.

then why did u buy a mpc if u never wanted the sequencing functionality?

yea sounds like what you really want is a s950, if you just need a sampler that rocks with fresh to def effects, s950 for $200-$300.

penfold - i dont understand your question.
I know the mpc1000 has a tight sequencer.
I have logic platinum anyways so i sequence the asrx with that.
I bought the mpc1000 cause i wanted an all in one solution, but i realize that there is never an all in one solution machine.
