Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Right now I have only one midi cable coming from the back of my triton to the Midi In on my MPC2000xl. Is this the only cable I need for this to work? Also how do I assign notes from my triton to drum pads on the MPC2000xl! Thanks for any help!

yo man there is a thread called "16 levels" that deals with what u want i think.. got to it and read the instructions.. its actually chromatic assign i think u want to do if u find it in the manual.. but the thread says it there ..it's on this same page so not hard to find.. i'm not so sure u need 2 cables is u r playing the triton sounds via the pads.. i think u only need a mpc in from triton out if u r playin the triton keys themselves.. but i'm not sure on that one.

you need two midi cables
triton out --> mpc in :
so da mpc records da midi data as u hit the keys on the triton
mpc out --> triton in :
so that after u have sequenced da midi onto da mpc, the mpc can play back da notes on the triton.

i knoe i made kinda unclear. but just ask if u cant understand.

if you're sequencing on the mpc, you only need one cable. mpc midi out --> triton midi in. this doesnt record the actual triton sounds into the mpc (you'd have to sample to do that). its merely telling the triton when and what to play. of course, i'm sure you already know that.
