Can midi messages be transmitted via usb to mid

I want to stick my laptop into my set up. Is there such a thing as a usb to midi lead that i can buy? Then I want to set my laptop to recieve midi data from my MPC2000xl. Can I do this?

actually, my boy was looking at a keyboard he can use with sonar. well, the computer is usb and the keyboard was midi. well, he looked for a USB to MIDI cable and found one. dont know where to get them, but im sure if you search the internet or even ebay you should find one. so to answer your question, yes i believe there is such thing

MIDI is just a digital signal, its easily converted threw digtial Mediums like
