What would be the best MPC to get since I'm just starting?

If you want to avoid using computers to make music, then don't get the 1K because you will need to use a computer to do sample editing given the very limited sample editing features on the 1K.

The cf card and usb transfer are cool but my 2Kxl also has a cf card reader. the only thing missing is the usb connection but I just conect an extra usb card reader to my pc.

Man if you got the money get a 4000. But of if you don't mind working alongside a computer get a 1000. If you want a mpc that doesn't need a computer but is at a reasonable price get a 2000 or 2000XL.

Get the 1k and a TurnTable.

I bought a MPC 2000 classic off ebay last month for a descent price, and I like it. But I probably would get a 1000 if I had to do it over again, I just bought and didn't do much reasearch I was so anxious to get started. But right now I'm only using the MPC by itself and it sucks that I cannot use more than one program at a time on my 2000. (I'm not sure you can on the 1000, but I know you can on the 2000XL)
But I like my classic though. It was in my price range. I paid about $750 for it, it has maxed out memory. Guitar Center by my house has MPC 1000's on sale for $799. Just do alot of reasearch and try them all out before you buy.
