Them guys been in the game a long time right... they were probably brought up on the 3000... That's what I always tell my self... to me the 2000 sounds like it bumps just as hard... it has never failed me in my quest to mimic the big boys... although I am far from a pro...

I've never used the 3000 but my guy has had it since they first came out...I've been at it since 95. He has admitted that I make better tracks but that's just to illustrate that it's not always the machine and it's features, it's the ability to make whatever you use sound(fatter or thinner). I don't know if that helps but think about what you're looking to do and then see which machine will make it easier to get that idea outta your head and into the speakers...just my thoughtz...

and you gotta remember that these guys were producing for mad time and that back then it was either the 3000 or some keyboard....they didint really have much of a choice so I think of it as more necessity than preference....its just self induced bias...

I have done MPC 3000's blind sound test before, and nobody has been able to identify the 3000 over the 2000xl many times.

There is no magic groove/sound to the 3000.

there is nothing about the mpc-2000/xl that would be weak to any other stand alone sampler...it is just as good..if not better in some situation
