Weird XL screens + SCSI problems

last night i was working on a beat. it was all samples and i needed an other bass sound so i go to the load screen. there the XL reads the zip disc thats in my scusi zip, but i realise thats the wrong disc, so i take the ziop out and put my good zip in there. then the problems start. the MPC freeze's, and after a minute or so the screen changes from the load screen, to a weird 'programming' screen with code's and digits. the F button's where active so i could browse the different screens. i took my camera and took some picture's to show you guy's. after that i rebooted, and now the SCSI wont work anymore. i think the fuse is blown, i still have the floppy drive so to be certain i loaded up some sounds from floppy and it worked, i also reloaded the OS, but the SCSI wont work.

last questions, where can i get my SCSI fuse changed? is it expensive? i live in belgium... if anybody have a clue, reply or pm me

damm looks like your mpc's fried. better get rid of it, and start using fruityloops.

wtf,my mpc still works, its just the scsi fuse thats dead

have you double checked ? Power first zip on then the MPC ? Are the zip's dipswitches still in the correct position ? Do you have another zipdrive lying around, if so does that work ? Do you have a friens with an mpc, does the zip work on his/her MPC ? The reason for all these questions is that it seems strange that SCSI fuse flows by you changing a zip disk. I'm not saying it's impossible, would just be a freak case of bad luck. A blown scsi fuse is a job for the repair centre. A broken scsi zip drive is a visit to ebay for a new one.

Try a different disk, maybe you **** the disk by taking it out while it was trying to read it.

You need a new backlight too, that shyt is dim for a XL.

i tried other discs. the MPC says that there is no SCSI device, i'm gonna try the zip on a computer or a multitrack to check it. now i just use the floppy drive. maybe i'm gonna install a ATAPI if i can find one.

You need a new backlight too, that shyt is dim for a XL.

i like my screen like this, i always adjust the contrast, and the pics are made in the dark.

yeah my screen looks like that every once in a while, i think it only happens when i start moving real quick through the MPC and have a lot of sounds on it, along with have a lot of sequences programmed.... thats the only time mine looks like that, but the peeps at AKAI havent been able to tell me a reason why it does that, a friend of mine does that too, but his doesnt on other terms

yeah, i had the impression that the mpc couldent 'follow', but the zip still wont work:(on the other hand, now i'm learing how to make beats that must fit on a 1.44 disc, its amazing how much you can scweeze on a floppy!

Oh yesss indeeed. I haven't got this on my XL but when I had a 2000
classic I got it all the time. If your even moderately good on an
MPC, your brain is gonna move faster than the chip on these things.
But I never got the 'code screen' in connection with scsi problems,
only from freezing during programming. If your fuse truly is blown,
a new scsi fuse should only be like 12-15 bucks. Have a more deisel one than it requires put in, and that should keep it from blowing again, as it did my 2000 when I fixed the fuse. Always turn your zip on first, and off last. Don't fire em up together.

yeah, but my boy got the regular 2000 and it does it on my XL also

So most 2000 classics got screen problems, but most xl's don't?

yea mayne happened to me today i was like wtf...but im not scared as much anymore seeing that its happened to alot of people...i guess ima take it a lil easy on the 2kxl
