I havea MPC2000 and a XP-60 connected. I know i can play what I want on the XP and then have them play together through midi but I hate the quantizing on the XP so I just play the melodies through the MPC pads. out to the midi IN (a) on the MPC. I can't remember how I had it setup before and I've tried every way I can imagine here's what I tried
(1) MPC (a) out to XP in....nothing
(2) Mpc (a) out to XP in & MPC (1) in from XP-out...nothing
(3) MPC (1) in from XP- out...nothing
(2) Mpc (a) out to XP thru MPCin from XP-out...nothing
I tried it with midi clock and with MTC set to 25 & 30 on both machines. i have the XP as a slave, and the midi/thru on. I ha dthe MP set to recieve midi cleck and MTC set to but nothing is happening except a sustained sound just rumbing; until I kill it with the MPC(opening the window in midi settings of MPC track)...Ma I'm at a lost and bout to say Fuc% it! But I have to know how to set it up...Pleasz someone help with something...peace and thanz for reading this far...

This might work. midi in from Xp to MPC snd run a midi out from the Xp to the MPC in. just a suggestion but if I'm not mistaken it should work.

MPC out A to XP in
MPC in A to XP out

set track to synth 1 A in the MPC, set it from Drum to Midi, make sure xp midi channel is on 1.

You can play the keys on the XP and sequence (use the Quantizing from) the MPC. Just don't use the xp sequencer.

Thanx elmacaco and blaz4me but Nothing is working...Not even the simple hook-up of MPC (a) out to XP-60 in. I've hooked my MPC to my VS1680 and it controls it fine.....I hooked the XP-60 to the VS and it's working too...This might be a stupid question but like the scsi fuse can or does the Midi hookup internal have some working part of it that can be fried or blown or messed up or something.....I've read up on midi and I haven't found anything but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I know midi doesn't have a fuse but what could be the problem..every other application I've hooked my MPC to it's worked (Vegas, Acid, Battery)...Noone on rolands' forums are helpful, and thier customer service is a joke ( I even paid for a 30minute long distance call )Am I going to have to shelf my XP or just sample from it....Which sucks cuz my zip drive problem is still there........http://www.mpc-tutor.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4669&highlight=) just in case anybody can help that too....Damn I guess I'm just being thrown a producer block from the MPC GODS..lol But somebody hurt their brains with me...peaceout!
