Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi,
I was planning on buying an MPC4000 but have now seen the mpc1000...

Does anyone have any insight on what is "better"? Is the mpc1000 a budget version mpc?

Feature wise, what is more powerful the mpc1000 or mpc4000?

Simply by the price I don't see how the mpc1000 can be a more powerful successor the mpc4000

I'm basically trying to answer the question, if price wasn't a factor and I had an mpc4000 or 1000 infront of me, which one should i grab and run off with?

if price wasn't a matter how could you ask which sampler is better? I mean 4000 might not be exactly 4 times better but cot damn, the quality of the sound on the 4000 is the best you can find. The 1000 does look real fun and simple, and if you have never used an mpc before than yea maybe a 1000 or 2000 xl would do you more good than a 4000. But if you plan on doing something with this embrace the mighty 4000, god bless autonormalize!

No question... MPC4K. Thats like asking should I buy a Boss DR Beat or a Roland TR808. And I have a TR808. Mos def... the 4000.

I'd say the 1000, 4000 may be more powerful, but more confusing to a just starter

I started my hardware seq experience with the 4000 and I think it's really easy to use.

1. Its definately a "budget" version, or just a portable mpc solution. That it cant run on batteries makes it (almost) totally useless in my book though.

2. Feature wise its not close to the 4k.

3. If the price isnt a factor then get the 4. Unless you plan to move around ALOT with it. And even then I'd suggest you to think twice about choosing the 1000.

And be sure to not trust AKAI conserning features etc, the 4k still hasnt got all the features it was advertised with. They did the same with the s5000 & s6000. And Z4 & Z8. And I know my s3000xl had som annoying OS bugs in it. So with all that in mind, be sure to try it heavily and dont count on the sellers argument "oh that will come in a future update, real soon". It will take time.
