HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE 4000

I agree. I made a beat the first day i got it, no problem. i was multisampling a few days afterwords.

Basically the hardest thing to learn is where everything is. Its easy, just as easy as the 2xl.........it just depends on how much you know to begin with. I mean, if you dont know wtf "keymapping" is, you are gonna think its difficult, but that not because of the mpc.

I have the 4000. My suggestion is don't buy the Plus model, its much cheaper to buy and install your own memory, hard drive, and cd-writer.

I really don't know why people think the 4000 is complicated. I have read posts explaining how they couldnt figure it out, and got rid of it. I don't agree. If your a programmer, you can use this.

The only thing that got me at first was loading sounds(select) but after I got the sounds up, from my prior mpc's, seqencing was easy.yeah getting over that state of I got one was a trip,in fact I still have the pic of it & the 2000xl on my wall,from the wall to my stand is a studio dream come true.hpoefully they won't make a 5000 then here we go again.some things that they could have thrown in for the money...s/pdif at least so you can really hear 24k sampling another thing I would love to see happen is AKAI hire BLUE HAZE ! I hang on his words & knowledge along with a few others as well as trial and era & reading the books...peace

Thanks rookie however I would rather work in a recording studio starting out like Just Blaze and like Young Guru to learn the whole process of making good music. I was talking with Elmanco on another thread how if the originator Roger Linn was to work again with Akai or make sequencing or sampling modifications to the current MPCs how great it would be. The business dealings between the two camps is a tragedy so much more if the two stayed the course. I`m no electrial engineer maybe Altopiano, Rob, Reveal, Adrian or could do that. Hey that fella Feline could work there and piss off Akai enough to really make the 4k shine ha, ha, ha. Yes once and a while I talk to Mr. Nakamura about the compliants and make some suggestions but he`s not the head guy or into the research department either. All he can do it pass along the information. I have to say Sean W. is deeply missed he was a great help and aid to all the man really cared about his work.

As far as trial and error that is natural learning very great invention, art, or endeavor was made thru the same process.

Imagine what you want to do

Try it out find it isn`t easy cause their are things you don`t know

Try again and again making mistakes and uncovering your mistakes to find the right things that works.

Getting frustrated cause you there is alot of stuff you don`t know and your patience is wearing thin and others around you are laughing at you working so hard and saying come and take the easier way like us. You might want to quit. But you knew the others did it and you continue.

Lights start coming on hey as you repeat it and repeat it everything is starting to make sense and your understanding is going way up and it becoming easier and you get more excited and you want to learn more.

Your Understanding is deeper you can do pretty much what you want and you are still learning new stuff everyday and you feel elation cuz it effortless for you now and the fact that you didn`t give up on your goals. You go and do whatever you want.

Now that you are comfortable do you change to something else or stick to what you know? If what you understand can apply to most things you would have to buy to many things just stay current with what`s going on in the field of work.

haze: boy I would quote evry word but that's a mouth full,I always wished that roger linn was still at AKAI I emailed him some years ago about making another mp but he said he was not gonna do it. if he was still there the 4000 would be on a whole nother level,just think how big his vision was to think of the mpc60,4 midi outs in the 80's that was ahead of it's time.who knows maybe someone has too much pride for them to comeback together.yeah sean was great but guys were yelling at him like he made the machine...hopefully, you will be in the studio elevating ya game and also being an asset cause I know they'll learn a thing or two from you also as we all did & continue to! peace.

How i feel 'bout my 4k... Simply,all i need.A great machine,usefull and last but certainly not least sounds ellegant and grimey too (if you get the right tips of re-sampling functions!).I ADORE IT!
