60 issues

Everytime I turn my 60 on, I get a really annoying sounding hum. I've changed the cables and the channels, still get it all the time.
Also, I have my 60 triggering my 2000xl. I have the 2000 set to synth1a on my 60. The problem is, that when I change it to synth 1a for the 2000xl, it still triggers the 60 too. SO, I'm hearing both.

change the 60 track from DRUM to MIDI on the main screen.

If it a hum or more of a whine? is it on your outputs or just from the machine. Listen to see if it is loudest near the transport controls. If so, it's your inverter. My advice is to live with it. I hae done a mod to make it quieter (basically re taping the metal coil around the audio transformer in the inverter so it's tight, then wraping it in more electrical tape) but you can **** up shit inside if you don't know what you're doing.

it takes about an hour and a half, and may not entirely eliminate the whine, but does make it quieter.

Do you get it through the headphones?

No, I don't have a headphone jack. As far as where it's coming from, I don't know, I beleive it's the outputs. I get the same type of noise from my 2000xl, if I have it connected while it's off. Usually when I turn it off, I'll hit the buttons which will cut them off from the main mix, making the noise inaudible. Then, when I turn it on, it goes away. As far as the 60 though, I just get it as soon as I turn it on. Like I said, if I disconnect the cables from the outputs, it'll go away but, it comes back when I re-connect them. Of course it gets worse, the louder I turn it. I do not hear it as much when I'm actually playing anything through it. The only reason I was asking about it is because, when I first got it, I don't remember the 60 having it.
I don't know, I'm starting to get used to some of the issues of my 60. Like, MPC3000 said, 60s are just old and cranky, it's true. I just bought a rack of floppies, even though I have SCSI, cause I can get the 60 to do everything except actually save on the SCSI zip that I got for it. So, I guess I'll have to learn to love the humm coming out of it too. that's cool, just so long as it works like it's supposed too. Thanks for yall's help.-peace
