It's May 2nd ...

Sorry, but someone was gonna bring it up sooner or later.

The supposed May OS update.

So wadda we do just sit and wait? Can we mail someone. Any useful contacts anybody? Who will hear it first? Distributors? Or just the first person to spot it on Akaipro?

And this aint really an OS thread. I bought the 1k on the basis of it's cost and strengths but also well aware of it's omissions and limitations. If there is never another OS update I will still stand by my purchase. Having said that ... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited at the prospect of new features.

This is a "how will we find out" thread.

didnt know it would be out this month. we have no choice but to wait and see.

i was wondering how long it would be before someone said something. everything i've heard or read has said may. i am content at the moment, anything extra will be an added bonus. i'm glad i got mine when i did because IF they gives us the added features we are looking for, they will surely raise the price again.

im about to purchase an mpc1000. is this OS update free? how do I do it? should i hold off my purchase until its out? thanks.

yes, they are free to download with instruions, its real easy. don't hold off on buying it unless you can't live without timestretch/chop/zone features. in that case you might want the 2kxl.

thanks for your help. ive only ever used software. i dont mind preparing samples before putting them on the mpc.

Thats a good point. Theres probubly some obese guy in idaho that made his zoning/timestretch OS and is hard at work on a Flamenco beat he'll only let his mother hear. It's probubly harder than making your own LSD though(P.S. anyone got ergot clavaceps?)

how likely is it that the free os update will include timestretch and zoning. how comfortable can we be that the manufacturer wont simply release a new model and expect us to pay more money?
