Hi there,

I connected my midi keyboard to my mpc. The good thing is that I can play all the loaded sounds from my keyboard. However... The keybord doesn´t play the internal sounds. I´m sure its all about settings because it plays the drumsounds aight. I set it to midi but it still doesn´t play my internal sounds. If I hit the keys in the monitor screen it gives me a signal that the keyboard is sending a signal so what is wrong... awww what the f....

Would be nice if someone could help me Peace Kai...

what type of keyboard is it

does it internal sounds when its not hooked up midi

i thought midi keyboards dont have sounds

Hiya,

It´s an classic mk-4903 and it has a lot of internal sounds. If I connect it to cubase it plays the internal sounds of the keyboard. I know that there was a tutorial about playing internal sounds but the link is broken. Do you know if I have to connect the midi out to my mixer to hear the sounds. Its a kind of annoying because all I want is to record some piano and strings. I could use the 16 level funktion but it doesn´t sound natural does it?

Thanks for your help Peace kai...

Not to say you already haven't but have you turned your drum setting to the midi on setting? If so and you're still not getting anything it's most likely that you haven't set your midi keyboard in correspondence with the midi channels be it you're using midi A or midi B channels. So if you have your midi plugged into the midi out (A) port you would set your MPC to channels 1A - 16A and vice versa for the midi out (B) port.

It's actually the Out A and B, the In channel doesn't matter, they're both treated the same. Hence, I have only one controlling keyboard on In 1, which I use to program melodies on both Out A and B. Anyway, I realize it's not that important, just figured I'd clarify.

Do you mean to change s:drum1 to midi? I did that but if I do that I cant play anything. The thing is that my midi keyboard says 00 on the multi display. As soon as I change that number to play a sitar on 104 the mpc changes somthing because now I cant even play the sounds from the pads...

Peace Kai...

try changing the program(PGM) number in the main sequencer screen of mpc to correspond with patch number in keyboard.

If i go to Midi and press open window I can choose as track, omni a, omni b and omni ab. Nothing seems to work... There is also the midi output monitor unfortunately there is no blinking light if I hit the keys. The input is fine because its blinking. I heard that you have to connect the midi out from the mpc to the midi in of the keybord. The thing is, that I do not have a midi in on my keybord.... So why is there no signal on the midi out monitor??? Thanks a lot in advance....

MPC midi out A or B to your keyboards midi in. Your next step would be to configure your keyboard to midi out. Without knowing what kind of keyboard is a disadvantage. However if you've ever hooked up a sound/synth module or know someone who has theres no difference. Of course giving notice to the obvious keyboard. As long as you turn the settings to midi on meaning you can see midi where you normally see drum1 etc; and to the right of that your midi channels 1A- 16A or 1B- 16B again pending on which midi port you use.

Unfortunatly I don´t have a midi in in my keyboard but never the less I made some progress. I connected the midi out from the mpc with an adaptar to my mixer. If I go to the midi out monitor it gives me a signal on the right channel the thing is, that I can´t hear any sounds. I have a MK-4903(www.midi-classics.com/h/h8947.htm). If I hook up my keybord to cubase I can play the internal sounds without any problems...

The way I see it now. Your able to play your keyboard thru Cubase via real audio. The MPC is only going to capture and playback either internal and received midi signals. No if ands or buts about it unless you cop a midi keyboard or module you're confined to using the PC. Perhaps your only means of getting those sounds into the MPC is by sampling them into the PC first and then again into the MPC. The MPC is not made to recive audio other than by sampling feature. My advice go out and get a Trading Times Magazine and look under musical equipment and cop a used module.

You are right... The keyboard probably takes the sounds from my soundcard. I thought about buying a synth but I´m not quite sure what type or modell. All I want is to play some instruments like strings, piano, banjo, sax you know that sort of stuff. Any sugestions???
