Buncha cheap (50cents - $5) vinyl yesterday from a hole-in-the-wall CD store.

Jefferson Starship - break
John Klemmer - minor break
Tom Scott - break
Mike Nesmith - break
Maynard Ferguson - open choppable drums and horn squeals
Joe Cocker - original to "California Love" plus one drum break
Carpenters - break
Spooky Tooth - paid 5 for this, but has one of the longest breaks known to man - been looking for that one for a minute
Herbie Hancock - Death Wish Soundtrack
Herbie Hancock-Maiden Voyage - no sleeve (50 cents)
Grant Green-Solid - no sleeve (50cents)
Lee Michaels - yet another album of his I didn't have - didn't know he had so many
Voyage - cool disco shtt
Giorgio Moroder - Midnight Express Soundtrack - very similar to "I Feel Love"

Then I got this other 50cent record by a well-known jazz pianist that has the most insane open drum hits I've heard maybe ever. It's not a breakbeat, but when I say open, I mean wide open - and they are MEAN - had me gasping out loud when the needle dropped. But, this record has a hold on me, and won't let me tell you what it is.

Now I gotta go back out today to get the new Lord Quas!

Well after the monkeys. Late '70s.

you will also find that the drum breaks on the Death Wish soundtrack have been sampled by everybody and their mother. still a great score though.
