Cats using SCSI HDs

anybody? Linn Design says that some HDs work but many do not. Those that are using them please post manufacturer and model and storage size and OS version you are running on you 60.

The MPC60 can also only recognise 60Mb, but the newer MPC3000 and 2000 modules have been considerably upgraded to work with up to 739Mb."

I am curious to know if v3.10 is limited to 60mb or if it has the 739mb of the mpc3000.

It really doesn't matter too much because you use partitions, and each partition can only have a total of 256 files in it, so no matter how much space you have per partition once you hit that number the rest of the partiton is a wash. I divide the Zip Disk into 20 sections, which works for me, since it's about 5 Mb, and full memory is 1.5 Mb's, so it's about 3 full kits which each have 64 samples, a PGM file, and an All file for sequences.

So I end up with 198 files for 3 full kits, then any sequence that gets developed into a song is opened by itself from the all file, then copied and arranged into a song in song mode, and that is saved in it's own All file.

The point to my approach is running out of space on the partition before going over the file limit. that way using more of the disk.

I guess you could run an HD bigger than a 100 Mb zip, but you only get 26 possible partitions. A zip disk can last a long time on the 60, I'm using the same one for over 2 years and I still have 5 partitions left.

I'm not saying my approach is the best, I'd like to hear others, but it was the best I could come up with.

I basically think finding 100Mb or slightly bigger HD that will work with the 60 is harder than working with zips.

I would love to get a card reader going, but the PCD 15 I have didn't work when I tried it.

Yeah there is no doubt you would be able to make like 40 - 50 entire albums with 800mb. But if you make beats like every other day it would only be like 5 years of beats. We have the first models, what 16-17 year old pieces of equipment. I just bought my mpc recently, just think if that HD-793mb was internal (and you had 8mb JK) and had all the beats and sounds from previous owners. HOLY CRAP like beats from 88 and shyt. That would be crazy! And when you finally pass it on the next owner you leave all your shyt in it no HD format just pass it on like a sword. Then the next owner pics it up and hears the history of that beast.

Anyway, I probably will use a zip when I get my scsi.
