If all you think about is timestretching and zoning on your MPC1000, then please read below carefully:

If you cannot make good music without timestretching or zoning, then you will not make good music even with these features. Timestretching and zoning are simply just alternative ways of doing things. The OS Update will in no way change the way you approach your own music. Really, its nothing to waste a lot of time waiting and thinking about. What you should be doing is making music on the MPC1000. Your music won't sound better if these features should become available to your beloved blue box.

Please, stop complaining.
Please, stop posting questions regarding the update.
Please, make your music.

Let's hope this will be the last topic BEFORE the update comes ut (if it ever does).

i sit on the fence abotu this one, im kinda vexed seeing alll the complaining yes...

i personnally wont turn down an os upgrade with those features on the other hand.

i agree with the topic starter, these features wont make better music, if anything, i know zoning will help speed the process up, not havig to chhop in a program and send, or extract over and over again.

My point exactly: its not that we dont WANT an OS Update, i just dont think we should dedicate this much time waiting for it.

i dont understand why people complain about time stretch and reverse etc.

if i want reverse, i hit the reverse button on my turntable.

if i want time stretch, i change the pitch on my turntable +20% to -20%, then i can lower it by a further 64 semitones or raise it by that on the MPC.

I think people want these features in the OS because it's more convenient and saves time to do it on the MPC compared to interrupting your workflow to use a computer or to resample from a turntable using the pitch slider or reverse feature. The turntable method isn't timestretching anyway. It's simply pitchshifting. And you can do that in the OS already. Timestretching is changing the duration whilst preserving pitch. In anycase not all material that people might want to use comes from vinyl. Timestretching, reverse and zoning are well established production tools featured in many hardware samplers over the years, particularly MPC-a-likes or sampling "grooveboxes". I hardly think their usefulness is up for debate. Manual zoning for example is very tedious. Abusing software/os zoning with inappropriate source material or settings can yield unexpected results too. Check out someone like Scott Herren/Prefuse 73.

I've never complained about anything to do with the MPC1000. I bought it knowing full well it had no timestretch, reverse or zoning and with a suspicion that it might never have. However speculation that these features might appear and in interest in them doing so is a perfectly valid topic of conversation on an Akai MPC1000 forum. What isn't welcome in my book is patronising idiots like hfinal telling me what to think, do or post about. I'm fine thanks, I have more than enough room in my head to make music and wonder whether said features will appear. If they don't I won't loose sleep over it I assure you.

totally agree mate.

why u man getting all offkey about it, no one promised u these extras, all u have a silly article in a magazine that suggested that it could be a possible update. since then everyones been waiting!! that shit aint coming now or ever. trust me, when you bought it you knew it did not come with those features you knew u had to use a computer to do what u wanted to do. so continue to do so.

I'm in the military and I'm fighting for your freedom over here in the hot ass sand box (can't say were). I only could bring my 1000 with me I don't have the option to use any other programs. Some people don't just complain about it some people really need it. At home i can do with out it. THE 1000 WAS made to be portable and not have to travel with a lap-top,turn tables etc. There are so many topic on this forum i don't need so i don't post a reply. Alot of people on the site needs to do the same.
