playing 78"s on 1200s

I have milk crate full of 78" records that were my grandmom's and I was wondering if there was anyway to play them on my technics. Or would I be better off buying some cheap old turntable that plays 3 speeds? I've been dying to listen to them, some are dated as early as 1903 . There prob some nice stuff to sample on them.

just play them on 45 with the pitch all the way up. might not spin as fast as it should but whatever

I wouldn't count on it -- I finally listened to my families stack of 78s and it was inaudible and unsampleable.

I'm looking for that turntbale tha plays on 16 and a sixth speed.

i dont like 78's. they are a pain in the ass to sample casue they move real fast. I dj so i like to backspin and scratch when sampling so it sucks co*k to use them. And most of them are garbarge anyways. BIg slate pieces of shit.

Nah, **** 78's, wax cylinders are the only way to go. The Victrola is the 1200 of phonographs.

i use a Vastex portable to sample my 78s.. they sell a 78 needle for it, takes some work but the sound quality is alright, i like to use it for interludes and shiit like that.
