putting fades on a sample roll

OK. this is my question. In order to do a smooth crescendo into a sample by using velocity changes in combination with the tap tempo button (a good sonic example would be RjD2) what procedure would I take? I would like to be able to use the sliders for a natural continuous fade, but the best i've come up with so far is to 16 level a sample for velocity and set the TC to 1/32(3) and mash my hand against the pads in an upward/right direction while holding the tap tempo button. this does a mediocre job of creating the sound i am trying to achieve.

any pointers? to recap: Smooth Loop Crescendo into a sample ala RjD2. and please dont come at me on some 'this cat is a biter' shit. I am merely trying to master my gear while giving yall an example of an artist who has used a similar technique so that one might know more precisely what I am talking about. thank you.

Make sure you have the velocity set up so you get a good smooth response, the pads will respond to how hard you're pushing even when the note repeat is on. Record it in, then if it's still not right you can go back and edit the velocity by hand in step mode.

ye i do it usually all in one take, with my finger on the pad and i just slowly press harder or releive pressure depending if i wanna fade in or out

What I do is:

set your timming correct at the speed you want, then sequence the pattern into the track without worrying about a fade in. Then go to Step Edit and set the velocity to each note (that you sequenced) fading up how you want.

each note? screw that. i want to be able to do it realtime. i can get close if i start at the corner of the pad and move farther in. is there no way to use the sliders for this? this used to be a piece of cake on the triton. I guess i could just resample shit into the triton for my fades.

You think RjD2's tracks are all first try with out velocity editing? If you want a certain sound sometimes you just gotta spend some extra time on it. If your looking for a solution in a live setting, use a mixer.

is there at least a function in the seq edit or step edit where you can apply velocity fades for certain bars or do you really have to do it note by note?

Obviously you have to spend time on your music to make it sound the way you want, but I'm saying that if theres an easier way to do it, it makes for a better work flow.
