I guess that's Afghan or Iraqi sand then. Never been entirely convinced about Mr Bush's recent incursions given that I'm a lefty European ;) but I damn well respect your bravery and commitment. Keep safe.

I think people want these features in the OS because it's more convenient and saves time to do it on the MPC compared to interrupting your workflow to use a computer or to resample from a turntable using the pitch slider or reverse feature. The turntable method isn't timestretching anyway. It's simply pitchshifting. And you can do that in the OS already. Timestretching is changing the duration whilst preserving pitch. In anycase not all material that people might want to use comes from vinyl. Timestretching, reverse and zoning are well established production tools featured in many hardware samplers over the years, particularly MPC-a-likes or sampling "grooveboxes". I hardly think their usefulness is up for debate. Manual zoning for example is very tedious. Abusing software/os zoning with inappropriate source material or settings can yield unexpected results too. Check out someone like Scott Herren/Prefuse 73.

I've never complained about anything to do with the MPC1000. I bought it knowing full well it had no timestretch, reverse or zoning and with a suspicion that it might never have. However speculation that these features might appear and in interest in them doing so is a perfectly valid topic of conversation on an Akai MPC1000 forum. What isn't welcome in my book is patronising idiots like hfinal telling me what to think, do or post about. I'm fine thanks, I have more than enough room in my head to make music and wonder whether said features will appear. If they don't I won't loose sleep over it I assure you.
