Okay this is my set up and Im pondering between my next piece of equipment...

I have :
Pro tools (mbox)
Roland Fantom
Reasons ( i never use this because I dont know how)
Ableton live (same as reason)
Triton LE
15 speakers and monitors
P4 Laptop with 40GB of space and 512 memory

Now Im pondering between getting a sound card or a mixing board next...
So from you experienced folks which should be my next buy?

i would look into upgrading your pro tools mbox to the 002 or to get the command 8 or mackie controller. that way you will not have to buy a sound card and you get more inputs than you have with your mbox

yes, the mbox is an audio interface. the same thing as a sound card but it only has 2 inputs to track with. i'm not talking about the mic inputs

You should sell about 13 of those 15 speakers and monitors and the mbox then buy a digi002.

only 2 :( how about midi? if not maybe you wanna get a better soundcard. this is my personnal opinion (dont get pissed) but why own it just to have protools. upgradin protools sh!t can be expensive (that i do kno about protools) unless u got the money but thats a different story. i assume either the roland or the triton has multiple analog outputs. you cant break your trax up with just 2 inputs. u can wit midi.

the 002 and the others that i mentioned has midi I/O's and it only costs $2100, the command 8 for PT costs $1200 and the mackie costs $1000 but the mackie doesn't have midi

whateva u do homeboy dont forget that midi seeing that u have ableton and reason. but u might wanna ponder on that seeing that u have all that sh!t cause 2 inputs dont seem to be cutting it. but again thats just my opinion.

okay I know nothing about midi or how it works I mean nothing....
Funny thing is Ive been selling beats lately.. Im very creative but I only know the basics of some of my equipment...

Hell I didnt even know the Mbox had a soundcard built in it until I read the post up above... Now when I say mixer Im refering to the Alesis 12 channel 12fx workstation I saw at sam ash for like $299....

I know I need to learn that midi.......
Matter of fact Im signing up for engineering school soon.....

If you mean this:

http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=34

This will not work with Pro Tools.

The only ones that will work with Pro Tools are the ones I mentioned above. If you go with either of those you still will not need to buy a sound card because those mixers are sound cards.

hey sparq why wont the alesis work... I was going to run my equipment into the mixer via midi.. then run the mixer into the mbox and the Mbox in to my laptop that way the mixer can put extra effects on my instruments...

pro tools only works with digi hardware

get the 002, getting a mixer or controller will not give you any more inputs into PT. The command 8 is just a controller, its not a soundcard

just curious, why'd you buy the mbox if you didnt know what it was

because I wanted pro tools and this was the cheapest one... I thought it was all the same I didnt know I would be limited to 16 tracks etc...
I had a bad sales person at guitar Center.......
