My hommie had his done at forat. Clear-coat natural finish. Looks awsome and very proffesional. I'm sure he paid an arm and a right nut to have it done. Doesn't look too complicated to do however.

What the f**k, how thick are those white pads?

You know I have a confession to make, those big white pads are an option that Forat offered a while back. They are originally for a Linn Electronics product called the midi studio. The Linn 9000 has pads that are just as thick, but the panel is sunk in more so they dont stick out as much.

Forat Sold them as an option until he ran out of them. I've been buggin him about them for a while, he said he might have more made but it wasnt a priority, Everyone who gets them thinks they feel much better and you get more control over velocity and such. After trying them on the 9000, it seems like they do, but the 9000 has different sensors too, so who knows how it will feel in a MPC.

Anyway I was thinking that maybe we could get a group order going and Forat might then be convinced to make them again. I was all pysched thinkin everybody would be in for it, well at least 20-50 people and it would all be fresh. Until I asked what the price per set of pads would be.

$200.

I aint payin that much for rubber, I'd sooner get a spare set of pads and glue more rubber to them and try them out. So I guess it's only for the Ballers.

I will try them out one day though.

Why don't we see if we can all get a list going and maybe get a bulk discount from FORAT on paint, wood, and thicker pads. Or even just the pads and would..I would not mind having mine painted but not for no 700...but I really want that wood and thicker pads..anybody wanna try for this?

if i am getting wood sides, i think id get the chassis painted silver or brushed. Im not really feelin the black.

I thought i was crazy! I was browsing forat earlier today and i seen those pads........i thought it was just me, and the shadows where **** up on the pic or something.

Thats wierd, but really nice looking.

I have no trust in sending my mpc back to the us... poor me.. although if I could buy an entire housing thing I might think about it... but fk that I need more important shit like new set of monitors and a flat screen computer monitor.
New pads might be a nessesity soon tho : (

Nah man, FOrat doesn't need to cater to bulk discounts, he's got enough business.

If anyone knows anything about rubber molding places where we could get thick pads made it would be dope.

Any Akai service cenbter should have replacement pads for your 4000.

I got my replacement pads from VST in Pasadena, they were $25 plus shipping.
