I've had that happen to me before also. The guy told me that the ART Preamp will work the same as a dj mixer. He was WRONG!

16 tracks? sounds like you're still gettin bad information

yeah pro tools le only has 16 tracks that you can hear at once.. I can make more than 16 but only can hear 16

your computer may only be able to handle 16 tracks at a time but Pro Tools le can record and play back 32 tracks at a time

yeah but those are 32 mono tracks.... all of my tracks are stero

lol, welll since you find it necessary to record everything in stereo maybe you should look into a different software app like Cuabse or Sonar

it's not really necessary to record everything in stereo. bass lines, vocals, kicks, snares should really be recorded in mono and output to a stereo master fader. that way when you master the song or do your final mixdown your entire song will be in stereo. they way you were doing it is redundant and a waste of tracks.

PS - definately go with the Digi002. even though you see 8 faders on the 002, that doesn't mean you only have 8 tracks

I thought if I recored in stereo it wont make my tracks have mor vibe or flare to them... I thought mono would make them sound bland or clumped together.... Ive never tried the mono..

if there is no stereo information to record than you're wasting tracks and disk space.

Vocals, bass, single drum hits,etc. are mostly mono

strings, synths, etc. are usually stereo

of course the above stated isn't always the case, just use your ears and you should be able to tell if stereo recording is required

you could do that with plug-ins

midi is very important when you have different machines. it allows the different machines to work together using digital data. like having a mpc and a keyboard. you can play out the notes from the keyboard and record it into the mpc sequencer. midi dosent produce the sound only the data. it allows them to communicate with each other. in your case you can midi up your keyboards and use them together. also if you don't have enuff analog inputs you can record your tracks midi track by track if you have a midi interface. as far as reason i dont kno too much about makin beats on a computer but i think you have to have a midi controller for that. so if you dont have midi you might wanna see that as an option. its not really that easy to learn. hell im still tryin to learn all that midi sh!t but you don's have to go to skool.
