Peace to the forums

It's been a minute. I've tried to "searching" for this problem and the one thread it pulled up never really provided an answer, because the situation was a little different than mine, so i'm wrong for throwin this back up again, my bad, but here i go.

I finally get my hands on a zip drive(100mb) to hook up to my pc(winXPpro), and a few zip, all our used. i have mpc2kxl with internal zip(bought brand new). i've tried to upload kits from the pc to the zip then to bring to the mpc and always get "disk read error" message. I've reformatted the disk in the mpc, when i put in the zip to the pc, the pc doesnt see it. i reformat the disk in the pc, all is good again in the pc. while it's blank, i throw it back into the mpc just to if it's still giving a "disk error message" thinking the disk is just no good. mpc goes to the upload screen, no message. so i take the zip out of the mpc, back into pc, upload the waves in a kit to the zip, everything xferes over just fine. Take the zip of zip drive to the pc put it back into zip drive of mpc.."disk error message" what could i be doing wrong? i've heard sometime it could be because the OS on the mpc, but i'm sure how to determine what the current OS, or how to even change it given it's not reading zips from the pc. any advice or recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Peace.

the PC will not read MPc discs for starters, so keep formating them on the PC..... the first thing I would do is try another disc, the current disc may be corrupt...... the latest OS is 1.20, but a lot of people (myself included) are still running OS 1.14. Both are on the akai site. hope that helps man.

first get a brand new zip disc format the disk with your mpc
second make sure the files in the pc are .wav
copy the files to disc then you should be able to access them on your mpc

I've answered this question myself at least a million times and I've read it answered by others a million times. A GOOD search will usually have good key words and the searcher will read more than just the first page of results.
Sometimes the answers don't just jump out at you, you are SEARCHING remember?
