only interested in buying 1 of 4 'synths' some1 choose 4 me

is it me or do we now have to set up a new forum discussing the merits and differences of like four sound modules- triton, motif, mo phatt or fantom....

1) does anybody search?
2) has anybody ever heard of any synth outside what dre uses and what scratch reviews
3) why doesn't anyone search?
4) why isn't anyone interested in making there own sounds?
5) did you know that if you search you'll find loads of answers?
6) why will this post be met with 5 more about one of the above synths
7) as bravo says: use the search yo....

and I can't think of any other synths I would rather not own than these 4.

The only new joint that kinda caught my eye is that V-synth XT rack cuz it looks like it's out or Knight rider, but I wasn't that impressed with the V synth sonically.

sounded kind of brittle to me, many roland synths have this, the fantom doen't as much, but the V synth had a brittle quality. I'd still kill it if I had it, but it would need some outboard to get it sounding fuller. WHat I liked are the great modulations available. But if I'm gonna spend money on a synth, I'd get a Dave Smith Instruments Polyevolver.

on an unrelated note I would like to murder the man who sold me the Moog Concertmate on ebay. He so kindly didn't mention 5 of the keys are broken. Now I have to go get this sum **** repaired......................with the little money I have left over from school and my filthy habits.

It does have some cool features, but you know, I'm old fashoined, I dont like computer screens on mu instruments, I hate the color screen on my cell, dont base our purchases of my opinions cuz I'm pretty out there, but I think Roland really tried to go out there with this one and the rack looks real dope so I'd give it a chance if I needed something, I;d get it sooner than I'd get any of the big 4 because nobody is really freaking the V synth, and it has a lot of freaking potential.

I hear ya, I had the same gripe with the Fantom XR. It had great sounds but they sounded like jolly ranchers. Really glossy and synthetic.

I haven't gotten a chance to play with the v synth at all or even see it in person so that piece is really intriguing.

I can't wait till I get my Spectrasonics Trilogy in the mail. I'm gonna run that through the moog then into the asr wooooooooooooooooooh its gonna be sexy

I thought the fantom sounded less 'jolly rancher' than the V synth. I don't think roland does high end stuff very well, the SP 303 sounds great and works great for the price, but if the MV has a similar sound I'd be pissed.

Real time timestretch is king though.

Yeah, the Andromeda is cool, but it didin't knock my socks off, lots of modulation possibilities mean lots of responsibility to hook them up, th panel is weird, the filters didn't sound too great to me, the general concensus is that It has a lot of possibilities but it takes some work to make it sound good, the basic tone needs to be mangled with the modulations to really get standout patches, little tricks to get it going, etc. I usually don't like analogs with LCD screens, but I found the Andromeda a little disapointing soundwise, and I am not so sure I would love it if I had to tweak it for an hour just to get the tone right.


Now the evolver, whoa. The polyevolver keyboard is just the shyt, I'd love one of them, much more than an andromeda, even though it has a quarter of the voices and has more digital components, it's Dave Smith, Sequential Vs. Alesis? Come on, no contest.

Check out the Korg Oasys. It's a little spendy but does everything but wash the dishes!?!

i like the reaktor style patch building on the Vsynth. plus it has mad upgradability

i think you just let the panther out the bag elmacaco, that thing is way iller than any other modern synths!

oh yeah dave smith any day of the week- i was dubious of the andromeda and am now convinced- a synth that price should have decent filters no question- if they aint you will spend that hour coaxing the sound you want...and plus mod routings are avaialble everywhere these days....looks like a bit of a rip...

did you try it in the shop or what?
