MPC3000 vs. MPC4000 soley for sequencing purposes.

I everyone, I ave an ASR-10 and Korg Karma,E-mu XL-7 and sequencin SUCKS on all 3[So I need a unit to do that].Last week I was at GuitarCenter, and played around on the MPC 1000.Later I asked my friend about what he thought of the 1000 ,and he said that I shouldnt get it.He said its made of cheap components , and if I want to sequence I should get one of the "ProStudioMPCS-60,3000 ,4000", they have wordclock,smptme , and other good stuff for syncing and sequencing.

So It's down to the 3000 and Z4 or Z8 (I need somethiing for my 24 bit sample CDs ,and something to hold all my samples ,I only use my computer for porn lol) or just the MPC 4000.

I was told the 3000 has a special "Feel" due to Roger linn **** up on something but it turned out to be good.Yet when I compare **** like Lil Jon
and R Kelly (who both use MPC 3000 for sequencing purposes) to people who use 4000s like (well I cant remember their names) I dont hear a certain feel or swing

What do you guys think?

if you just want the mpc signature sequencing get the mpc1000. all mpc sequencers are the same its old akai technology....full proof

If you can't get busy with asr 10 or xl7, both of wich aere pretty dope in their own right. You won't due that much better on a mpc.

easier to get going on a 3000, but if you need a 24 bit sampler too, it'd be dumb not to get the 4000 and learn it well.

So the sequencers are the same?What do you guys have to say about the swing of the 3000?I heard the 3000s outputs are +4DB and sound better, but I could get the 4000's modified right?

Couldn`t have said it better. Both are good but the cost and time to learn hmm?

Enjoy looking at the start of your post either one with be sufficient for sequencing. Adding full Z8 sampling the think the article tells alot.

the 3000 is beautiful, great to start working immediately, but if you are looking into a Z sampler as well, it's better to just get the 4000, the swing differences aren't that different, it's a preference some people have to the feel of a machine's sequencer, not really a deal breaker if you haven't used either. get the 4000, take the time to learn it, you'll have fun.

Actually...now that I think of it.What are the dimensions and weight of both units?I want something that I can easily take with me ,from studio to studio.

The 4000 is more giant than any other mpc

They are both animal monster beasts. I have them both. MPC 4000 is bigger but I'd say the 3000 is possible heavier.....

How is that possible when the 4000 has an internal HD and fan?Would you mind putting your MPC's on your scale (if you have one) for me and measuring?Thanks

yo, **** all those! You cant get the mpc1000 because it doesnt have enough midi outputs.

Id say get the mpc2000xl because its cheaper, but again, it only has 2 midi outputs.

The 4000 is your best option. Dont get offended, but the 3000 is overpriced. On the 4000 there is grid sequencing, piano roll, original mpc style, and step edit.
