Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By jontakiff Mon Sep 29, 2003 6:31 pm
Anyone know if files from the MPC 2000 can be saved to SCSI hard drive? The zip drive thing is driving me up the wall. Also I read about someone having a flash rom card installed in place of the floppy drive. Does anyone know better alternatives to zip for the 2000? Thanks.

I don't know of any HD's that work(cuz I'm saving to get one now). As far as flash goes, it's very expensive and It can't hold too much of nothing..I feel it's only purpose is to save to OS to so you don't have to load the OS off of a disk. Well I should take that back..it has 8mb's of memory so I guess you could but that's a personal decision , I'm sure it might work for some but hey....well here's a link to checkout if you're going to buy but it's $427.00 (ouch) When I find a good working solution for saving I'll hit you back I just called akai pro's number off the website and he said he'll emial me a list of HD's by the end of the day...so when I get it I'll post it....Peaceout!

I've got an MPC2000XL and I use a harddrive. It works fine for me. More stable and faster than a zip drive. I think it should work fine on the regular MPC2000, but don't quote me. I have some extra harddrives that I don't use if anyone is interested. I have (2) 500MB, (1) 1.19 Gig, and (1) 2 Gig. I'll sell them for $30 each plus shipping. You just need the proper cable (which I wouldn't buy from CompUSA because they charge like $70 for the cable). I got my cable on eBay for like $15. Let me know if you're interested.

I'm definitely interested in a scsi drive that will work with the 2000, I'm just getting conflicting messages about what will actually work. Nympho, that link didn't work. I'm kind of surprised that with zip drives being so crappy, more people haven't found a better, more stable solution.

Could you explain to me exactly how this works? Does it save and read? How much memory does it have?....

thanks a lot. I really need to get away from zips.
