Can someone who owns a 60 and a 3000 please do a side by side output comparison. I'm going to be sending my mpc-60 away tomorrow but before I do i seriously want to know what the differences in output are between the 60 and the 3000. My man tells me that after I have this mod done my mpc-60 will sound more like Jay Dee's instrumental beat albums from bling45.com. I don't think that helps me much as i'm sure he uses compressors and such as do I. I need to know what the natural output is like.

If you could provide 2 of the same exact drum hits at full volume from the stereo out that would be fantastic. Or just send me 2 waves of the same recording. I want to hear the difference. Just curious.

thanks so much......it seems I will be the first ont he board to have the mod done....when it is i will share my before and after thoughts. I will also record a few sampled drum hits before and after the procedure if all else.

Thanks so much!
PEACE-

it's actually bling47.com. i don't see how modifying the output will make your beats sound more like jay dee, though.

Not the beats, the sound of them.

Does your man have the output mod done? Then how does he know?

One thing is for sure, it can't be a bad thing, it's not gonna hurt your sound. personally I think it will just make your 60 louder while keeping the noise floor lower than just amplifying it.

If you want to do me a favor, open up your 60 and take a picture of the circuit board where the output jacks are, a nie detailed pic, then when it gets back, compare it and see if you can see the difference and see what they did as far as the mod.

hmmm i'll try photographing it. also yeah i'm not saying my beats are gonna say like Jay Dee....man a comment like that - you must totally misconstrued my idiotic comments. sorry. I meant was the output will offer a more comparative output quality to that of a mpc-3000. i was just using jay dee as an example as he is notorious for his mpc3000. And I was referring to the drum sounds. the snare and hats and such. But I don't want to use him as an example as he works in a studio and studios can modify any sound. Lastly....yeah that is my main concern - noise to db ratio. I want to make sure there is no hi hissing....but i trust that Forat knows what he is doing.....otherwise he wouldn't offer it. I'm gonna go with it tomorrow for sure. Fukkit!!! I'm excited....cus my drums already bang hard.....just gonna be that much harder and iller......thanks guys.

or even just look at it, I want to see if it's something I might try myself.

a mod may change the output dynamics slightly but you need to realize the big name guys our using a bunch of outboard processing regardless of what they may or may not claim.

His concern is basically that, once a compressor is involved, the compressor is only reacting to the signal coming from the source point (outputs of the 60). Right now his compressor needs to be at much higher ratio setting then it should, with more gain introduced, because he is using the compressor to make up for the lack of loudness of the MPC. So basically, he is hoping the outcome of the modification will be a much louder signal from jump, so he doesn't have to over compress. Too most, it's probably not that big a deal, over compressing, but, he is DRUMat!c.

F.Y.I. - Less compression means more natural sounding drum dynamics.
