Great job signing artists to your label who think have no chance at success....

And spectre the artists arent signed and if you lived where i live ireland where theres absolutely no talent in this genre of music you would also work with the best you could find!!!

Good point.
You gotta
make this girl feel like your her
dad. Supportive, yet serious.
The artists are your kids,and
you want what's best for them, cus they are
an extension of you, etc.
So, she has to deliver and deliver bigtime.
She must know that you are the shit,
and that as long as she busts her behind
to make the performance/record the
best it can be, then you will do the
same on your end. Those both have to
be absolutely true. The rest is as follows:
Forget what
you just told us.
Pretend she's the greatest thing since Whisky,
make everyone believe it, and
throw in some ish about
how she "embodies the soul you were always
looking for" or something like that.
Better yet, have people you trust
but with no direct affiliation to the
label say these things to other's when you
not around. Actors, business owners,
socialites, people with cash.
Then it's like:
"so and so is successful, and they
like this artist, so, they must know what's up,
right?"
If you sell it, someone will buy it.
Even if you are going down the tubes,
tell everyone who asks that the label is
doing spectacular, and you are getting some more investors
together. Are they interested?
Ding!
Trust me, it works.
Good luck!

i gotta agree with spectre,

maybe it's time you move. no disrespect, but if you're going to make it as a label you have to

a. be somewhere where you can find talent

b. have something that people will buy(just because someone is hot musically, doesn't mean you can sell them.)

c. have something fresh, that will blow a&r's asses out of their seats(this almost never happens, and even if it does, the a&r will probably steal your idea.)

the days of independent labels are getting a standing 8 count, unless you are happy with a small company, that will end up costing you more than you make, cut your losses.

im not trying to piss on your parade or anything, who knows maybe you will make it, and i wish you the best of luck, just get ready for a long road, that is probably a dead end.

Word up...what Bboutit said is probably the
most important steps. People have to hear it.
But if you don't believe in it, who will?

what about structure?

Does anybody have advice on contracts, reimbursments structure, what you have to actually agree to provide as a label? things like that?

Im in a similar situation. Ive got talent, good talent. Weve got a good product, and ive got them to sign. Marketing wise we have a good package and plan.

But I feel like im not prepared enough legal wise. I want to ensure that We are locked in. I dont know how to write up agreements.........and thus i dont know where to begin. Ive been using contracts for my beats. But i need contracts for the label.

any insight would be helpfull.

There a some ready made contracts @ musiccontracts.com, but to things properly you should seek a GOOD entertainment lawyer..

Create the Buzz
Create the Buzz

You have build it and then they will come, ONLY after you have built the BUZZ first.

Think about it, how many businesses that you can think of that did everything right......but failed after lack of promotion and market buzz. I don't care how tight your business is, if your song isn't hot... it doesn't matter.
