I had always thought DMX's - Hows it Goin Down was a sample based song

then I heard Surfaces - Closer Than Friends

did Swizz just replay that and make his own style of that song? Or was it actually a sample from a different song that sounds similar?

didn't swizzy get sued for sampling or using uncleared sounds... If my memory serves me correctly, which it often does not, I remember hearing something about that a few years ago...

the rumour was tht he got sued by keyboard makers.. yamaha cuz he was usin "wudever" he can use on the keyboards.. but i did read an interview where swizz says it was all jus rumours tho?

what is the question the poster is askin tho? are you sayin that other group sampled swizz or what?

o naw.. in 88 teh group Surface did a track called "Closer than Friends".. I actually wanted to sample it, but the drums on it were just too much. But then I gave a lsiten to "Hows it Goin Down" and the main melody is almost the same, and the lil flute he does is just like on the Surface song. Was wondering if he replayed that song/re made it into his own style... or if HOws it Goin Down was actually a sample from anotehr song that sounds similar
