How many drum programs do u use on a regular basis? Just curious. I'm trying to get down to just using 5 different drum programs.

I have 2 prgams that I use. I really don't need more than that. They have everything I need. Kicks, snares and precussion.

Yeah, I'm trying to get mine down like that. Just organizing, layering, and all that takes time. But it's worth it. Now that I think of it, I might just rock with 3. 1 for hiphop, 1 for party tracks, and 1 for R&B. 16 samples X 4 banks? I don't think I'll need more for each genre.

if you have to use 15 programs in a song, i think you have to manage your programs better.

I have about 3 gigs of drums sounds, and I know people with way more. But on the real like someone said. You can get 3 or 4 good programs and create just about any drum sound you want to fit your track. To me that is much more rewarding than having to go through thousands of drums to find one to fit you track. Layering, EQ'ing and filtering. That can make 2 drums sound like a 1000

20,000 drums samples is alot. You want use 90% of them. get a bank or 2 of each and layer them for each beat........ 20,000 drum Have you heard them all?

i have tons of pre made drum programs too but i dont even bother too much to go thru them. there are so many i just get lost and lose the vibe. i just pick out a break, sample it on the spot and make a new program for every track. i get to control and sample it the way i want it to sound from the get go. id rather have a program with 1 bank i can use than 4 banks full of stuff i cant use.

I try and make a new .pgm for every beat...sometimes I will recycle older .pgm's

So most of you guys layer on the spot? I usually have all my drums layered already. Mainly because you can't eq the layers seperately. At least on the 1000.
