dont have a micron but try this midi out of micron to midi in 1 of mpc then midi out A of mpc to midi in micro go to midi/sync mode set to same as trak setting also set input to all or the specifi channel you want next go to main and then the trak, toggle where it says drum to the word midi then on the oppsite corner it will say midi and then it is set to off turn it to A as in midi output a and any number between 1 and 16 as in midi channels(after 16 it goes to B1 as in midi out B and you can select 1 through 16? then press record and that shoud do the trick. let me know if it works or if you have any more question

listen its not working this is my setup...

=on the mpc1000 under 'midi'
-active track recieve channel - all
-soft thru - omni A
=under 'sync'
-sync in-1
-sync out-A

=on micron
-local control settings - OFF
-Midi - multi channel start 1
-midi - ext midi sync

heeeeeeeeeelp this shit is pissin me off, that set up gets my mpc to recieve the notes, i see them on the step edit but cant hear shit!......

now what im doing until i figure this out is recording my beat to pro tools via , mbox then going over with micron same way.... but ideally i only want to use my computer to fine tweak/master & then record vocals.... i hope i broke that down enough..

If the notes are getting through to the mpc there must be a problem on the way back out. Is the midi lead going back to the micron in the right ports? Have you tried swapping the two midi leads over so you know they both work? What have you got the audio outputs of the mpc and micron plugged into?

make sure the track you're using has the same MIDI channel as the Micron! Say you have a bass sound on the Micron, by default it uses channel 1, so on track 1 on the 1K, the MIDI channel should be 1A.

i have event tr6's coming out of the mpc, and nothing out of micron... my understanding was that both devices would come out of 1 pair of outputs.. less im wrong
cables are good
and imma double check the midi channels

AMG: hows that 1k+micron combo working for you? i copped my 1k not to long ago and i am trying to keep it as simple as possible. i think all i will add is a micron, powerbook, good monitors and i was thinking an Mbox? not really sure though, i just want a portable studio and i guess as long as i track everything out seperatly i might not need a "mixer". anyone know if i'm on the right track here? anyway i dig the simplicity of you setup, got any tracks posted using your current setup?

The Midi data from the MPC will just play the micron, not transfer audio or sounds. It's just kind of like playing it for you, so you don't need to use your hands. The outputs of the micron still have to be plugged into something for sound to come out. There's a diagram on page 4 of the mpc manual that explains it all. You're using the Micron as both the midi keyboard and the sound module. note the sound module is plugged into the mixer forr the sound to come out.

That sound all work for you once you sort that out. To try it without having to go buy anything, plug one channel of the mpc into your one monitor and the micron into the other. It should all work now.
