mpc 4000 optional items

can somebody tell me real quick what are the options for the mpc 4000?
i own a 2000XL but i'm bout to upgrade.
does it bring the 8 output or does it cost extra money?
i read that u can connect a computer mouse and/or a screen. i've seen it a lot of times with 17" LCD's. does that cost extra?

you cant cconnect a LCD screen to it directly but you can conect you whole computer to it using akaisys. Which I have found very helpful. and also on the pont of having a lcd screen.t he 4000s own screen gives an excllent picture much better than what you might find on other machines.

Get more memery for sure, and get the 8 outs.

Effects board comes standard.

If you get a mpc4k le.........you dont get the cdr or internal harddrive. Thats what i got, if you do the math its cheaper to add those options later if you are comfortable opening up your monster.

But ram is most important. It comes with 16mb, but because you can sample the **** out of everything, youll need more. I need more to load more multisample programs at once.

I need the 8 out to track right.........especially if everything ends up in the mpc4k. Before i had a mpc2xl and my keyboards. Id midi sequence the boards so i didnt need the 8 outs on the 2xl. Now i am sampling my keyboards into the 4k as multisamples, and need the memory and 8 outs because everything happens inside the mpc.

If you can handle just working with a mpc2xl screen, the mpc4k is more than enough.......you dont need a computer screen, you can do it all on the mpc4k.

Dont sleep on the 4k. I assure you even as a dedicated 2xl user, youll get use to it fast enough that its worth the swap. Just dont do it if you are about to drop an album and need to buy studio time to track your beats! cause converting my 2xl beats took the longest as far as learning curve goes. Everything else took me like 2 days to get use to.........its an mpc for sure.


I sound like a **** salesman........but thats because i think upgrading was the best thing I did. I honestly feel like this thing is all i ever need; and thats hard when you are tempeted to buy lots of nice gear-especially when you got good credit!

You can use USB drives, they are better
1. You can transfer your MPC without warning, about harddrive
2. It could be a 100, 200, 300 GB Hard drive, as people talking... or you can use Terrabites of Raid massives, haha, don't know exacly about the last stuff)))

The cdroms are basic stuff, that you can buy in every computer shop
The same with internal Hard Drives and Usb Hard Drives,
8 Analog outs costs ~300$ in Russian Federation for example

just standard hard drives, and standard cdr drive.

I use an external usb drive 40 GB. Its nice because i can just plug it into my computer, then just drag massive quanitites of samples.

nah it s just a PC with it s own monitor running Aksys behind the 4000

Ive been thinking about building a rackmount PC DAW, VST Station, and Ak.sys station and situating it like this, somewhat on behind/top of the 4000. Its looks very sexy.

I just realized that my aksys. 2.53, looks nothing like that.....is that an older version? There are many less knobs and I cant get it to fit the whole screen like that. Is that a photoshop job, or, an older ak.sys?

Yeah, my ak.Sys just looks like a file menu.

In ak.sys

double click:
- on a program file in MPC/MEMORY/PROGRAMS for the program editor
- on a multi file in MPC/MEMORY/MULTIS for the multi mixer

Make a drum program 'active', option/right click on the MPC icon and choose 'pad editor' from the menu to open the pad editor for that program.

I know that, I ve been using ak.sys for quite a while (on my s6000). What I am saying is, is that screen shot of ak.sys seems to have a lot more knobs/buttons and is a lot bigger and more detailed than the Ak.sys I have. Maybe because I am runnning a 19 inch screen, but, ak.sys only takes up a small potion of my screen. In that pic Ak.sys takes up the entire screen.
