Can you change the default track names for a sequence?

So that the tracks are not called "Track01, Track02, Track03" etc but for example: "Sample, Bass, Kick, Snare, Hihat" etc??

Can it be done?

edit: I use a 2000, no XL

Check the Main screen user defaults:

In main screen choose EDIT [f2] then press USER [f5].

manual pg. 74

okay... but when i go to the USER menu, it doesnt allow me to change default names of the tracks.

I only allows me to change BPM, number of bars, Tsig., Loop: On/Off etc

To quote the manual:

"Select the field with the CURSOR key and set the paramater with the DATA wheel. The fields which are not displayed here cannot be changed."

*Thats from the "real" paper manual for the MPC2000, page 75.

W'dup doe....

On the main screen, highlight the track you wanna change the name of. Then, where it says "Default: Track1", change the default name to whatever you want. Lastly, press enter to commit.

I changed my track names as you stated (kick, snare, etc.) and saved it as "all sequence and songs" on my load disk, so it loads automatically every time.

Note: you use the same method to change the default sequence name.
