Not a pro at setting up MPC, but..........

How do I set it to here my sounds?

Here's my gear so far:

MPC2000xl-----------i have an external CDwriter connect to it. Phillips CDD2600 to load samples onto MPC.....and that's it.

Yahama MG 10/2 Mixer

Casio keyboard ------- weak keyboard. got it from my lil' sister. The keyboard doesn't have midi thru........Midi in/out, yes.

on computer:
M-Audio 2496 soundcard
and various software.

Problem:
I want to hook up my MPC200xl, but not sure where correct and effective way to do it. I have my casio midi in/outs to M-audio card midi/outs. From the M-audio, I have the RCA in/outs to Mixer inputs. From Mixer outputs, I have a home stereo receiver hooked up to home speakers for monitoring.........that's my connection this far. oh yeah, I do have the stereo left/right into a channel on the mixer, but still no sound.

is it the external CDwriter that's not giving my MPC any sounds to play....
or the connection to mixer.........?

If there is any other options out there for me to route my studio for better performance, could somebody please let me know........thanx.

keyboard midi out goes to mpc in and mpc out goes to midi in of keyboard. Turn local off on keyboard. Now you can sequence the keyboard from the mpc.

Next connect all audio outputs of the MPC and the keyboard on your mixer. This way you will be able to listen to the sounds of the mpc and the keyboard.

Since it seems you use the cd-writer for sampling only connect its output to the input of the MPC so you can sample from cd's.

To record the beats you make on the mpc/keyboard connect the output of the mixer to the autio input of your soundcard. Now you can record the beats on the computer.

thanx for the hook up setting, but now I can't use keyboard to play thru computer.......I have only 2 midi ports on sound card.....and that's it....

would i have to switch them out each time I want to control computer sounds thru for example: Reason 3.0?
