for people without mixers or the money to spend on one

For along time I thought about buying a mixer with at least 24 channels because I have the 8 outs on my piece plus I got 8 outs on my sampler. I found a very cheap and much less expensive way of using them. Buy couplers. Buy using 3 couplers you can put 4 cables into 1 input line of your mixer. Now you still have 7 other line inputs to use. 6 couplers = 8 cables and 2 line inputs. << this is how I now use my samplers 8 outs. I can mute these from the MPC. So with 6 couplers, I use the 8 outs of my sampler into 2 line inputs with leaves me with 6 remaining line inputs available. 6 more couplers using the 8 outs on my MPC and using 2 more line inputs leaves me 4 line inputs to still use. So its like I have 16 separate channels going into 4 line inputs. This makes the mute function on my MPC that much more valuable. Each coupler is about 5 bucks from Radio Shack. So to cover all 16 outs on the MPC and my sampler, I'd spend roughly 60 bucks. I think this is alot better than spending at least 700 bucks on a mixer, even though theres nothing wrong with that. This is just a less expensive way of going down the same route minus the bussing, etc. So, for the heads with not alot of bread to breakup, hope this might help your situation.

couplers are a bad idea. No eq or dynamic level control. I got a cheap 16 channel mixer (sammik, never hear of it before ) for $75, there are lots of cheap mixers out there, and they beat the piss out of using couplers.

creative solution, but better to just use the stereo outs, since the individual outs don't really give you any of the advantages of the 8 outs.

not really less expensive, if you don't look for name brand mixers.

the shieldinjg on those puppies may cause some problems, but hell, whatever works.

Cats kill me buying up MPC's and don't have money to buy other gear to go with it.

it makes perfect sense when some people have other financial responsibilities, or are we all supposed to just walk into a music store and plunk down 40 gs for a brand new studio??? reality, get a grip on it.

why would you use 8 outs and couple them down to 2 or what ever and not just use the stereo outs of your sampler?

Might as well hook yer shit up in mono! Only of course if you want some true bass sounds.

The thing is..you can go and buy a cheaper piece of equipment but I probably won't last as long as you like...or you'll grow tired of it and want a bigger and better piece....I say save until you can get something good that will be around for a long time.
