samples from the library?

Any of y'll get your samples from the library? (As in library for books...remember that place?)
They don't have any records, but a grip of dope cds. Plus they're free. I just burn them to my hard disk then find my samples, then delete the full album. Unless it's got too many samples to give up. I know most of yall are all about wax..but give it a try.

I just got 10 CD's yesterday..and found some ill samples! Even better than I thought.

I use both some times put the stuff I got from record on cd for future use.

The nice thing about using CD's is that once it's on your hard disk, it's very fast to find samples. I use Acid 4.0 to get my samples then I load them to my MPC or into Cubase.
I'm real visual..so it helps to see the waveforms while I'm digging. Can't do this with vinyl. If I'm just looking for a simple sound (like just a piano, no singing or other stuff going on) I can pick it out in the visual waveform, then listen to it and see if it sounds like it looks. Next I use the choper and chop it into a loop real quick. (Or one sound.) Anyway, I know most of you know this, but hope it helps some.

too. ANd dont froget college libraries. I got about thirty or forty recors with old library return cards on them. I dont steal them.

My grandad passed his record collection on to me. A few weeks ago I found a record that was due in 1977. It was one of those documentary records where they do alot of talking. The documentary was on african american history.

I use my friends card...so they don't know me. I don't have a card anyway.

we had practically every bbc sound effect cd at uni- wished i sampled them now....

another good way is tod ownload spoken word books from t'net....i found jungle book on kazaa- great ambient jungle music

i found two early roy ayers records (along with that garbage starbooty lp) in the local library. theres usually a lot of wack records but i kept digging an found a clean copy of reuben wilson "set us free" which is not super rare but i had never found it and havent come across it since (even in mustafas crates)
