LCD Speed

ok so the othernight I was working on one of the very first real session I've done on the 4k using "dunno" 100 samples and about 80megs of ram and I noticed the lcd update time was getting seriusly delayed..

is this normal??!!!

I mean when I bought the machine I never expected to use 128tracks of midi or 500megs of ram I merly looked at it as a mesurement of horsepower.. so this gets me pissed off.. running os.1.4, 256mb

ok I'll rephrase the question ..

does the update time of you lcd slow down dramaticly when there's alot going on!?

Yep, unfortunately this seems to be a problem on the 4k. I can't remember if it's been like this on all versions of the OS, but I'm pretty sure it's been like this on both 1.40 and 1.45. Don't know about the reason, but I hope this will get fixed in a future OS...?

Preferably before we're all dead and buried, that is...

Yeah, well, luckily it doesn't seem to affect the actual sound (it's just the screen redraw that slows down) so it's more of an annoyance than actual problem IMHO...

I guess being "children of the computer age" have made us more dependent on visuals than the old school guys were.

Now, if only they would implement the "audition from HD" AND BPM sync for the delay part of the FX section, I sure would be a happy puppy.
