hmm well supposedly the 3000 has better swing because roger linn FD somethin up but it turned out 2 be a good thing

also the 3000s sounds punchier because the outputs are +4DB but u can get ur 4000 customized 2 be like that 4 like 200 bucks

The 3000 has only like 2 mb of memory, expandable 2 16 MB , while the mpc 4000 has a 40-80 gig HD and 272 MB of samples possible 2 use at the same time, i personally cant imagine using over 1 MB of samples because i got an ASR-10 which i use 2 chop up loops a mpc would be used just to sequencer and a midi controller, and for drum sounds.

the 4000's sequencer is basically an advanced version of the 4000, i say you should buy both, learn both inside and out for 1 month then make the decision on what you need , if you have a computer in your setup id personally just got 4 a 3000

thats my take :!:

Is that a 3000LE in ur sig?my god that is beatuiful

First of all, FOrat lists the output mod for the 3000 as well as the 4000 etc. Are all MPC's really not putting out +4 dB? not even the new ones?

or does he just make it louder to grab people? The 3000 manual says the stereo and individual outputs are 6dBm, what does the boost take it to?

Also, the max ram on a 3000 is 32 Mb's, despite what the manual may say, check the roger linn design site, he explains it.

If you got a 3000 and like it, just use it. If you really hate the fact that you can't sample six five minute songs into your sampler and assign them to a pad, well then look at the 4000. Personally, the 4000 has some good features, but cramming too much into a machine makes it a little less elegant to use than a Roger Linn machine, but if you want those features it's nice to have it all in one box. Don't complain if you get lost on it though.

Forat offers the output boost on all MPC models except the 1000, which they don;t list any services for at all.

I wonder if this is just how akai makes their samplers or if it isn't just louder than +4dB for the rest of them.

Someone want to write them and ask?
