So I live with my mpc in a cave and we really don't get out too often other than trips to the bins. I'm still rocking the operating system it came with (ver. 1.45). I've been reading that some of you with more recent o.s. have been having problems and in some cases reverting back to an oldero.s. because it is more stable.

Should I bother upgrading the o.s.?

What have I been missing (updates)?

Is there a specific o.s. that might be better than ver 1.45 yet not the most recent one?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the reference, but besides hearing peoples opinion on ver 1.51 and telling me I don't throw caution into the wind is there any other advice on newer versions of the o.s.?

Again, any help would be appreciated.

ive got the latest. 1.7.

nothing wrong. But i dont do major midi things. I make sample based beats, with several programs, lots of samples, using the filters, occasional effect, all the sampler features, most of the program parameters.

I sequence 1 keyboard, and So far i havent had any issues.

I dont really use qlink as i just havent dug into it yet.

So you should be good. Worst comes to worst find out for yourself. If things are **** up, you can just go back.

Hey use trail and error you are missing out on key improvements over 1.45 O.S which most of us used last January 2004.

The above thread was an example of what happens each time a major update was released. It`s experience to learn from. When the next release comes later this year the same situation and questions will arise again nothing new.

Some key improvements over 1.45 released in 2003 I believe its 2005 now are:

Mixer page with sends

12dB Gain within Effects

Improved Copied and Paste Functions in Seq Edit

16 Tunings in 16 Levels

Audition from hard drive

Now you can use Q5 and Q6 to adjust editing samples. Too many to be naming and it goes on and on.

I can`t speak for others cuz I haven`t been recieving problems with 1.71 O.S. but I would say rather than just depend on others check for yourself download 1.45 and 1.71 O.S. installed and check if you have problems go back to 1.45 O.S.

I wouldn`t be intimidated by the gear or accept another`s paradigm.

One man may be in hell trying to use his gear/Another is in heaven using his gear.

It`s all in the way you deal with your challenges forward or backwards.
