Does it sound right?
Ask yourself this question when doing your stuff. If your tired, you head may say 'yeah, sort of', or 'its ok'...= not good enough.
We all know when our sh*t aint right if its not, we know in our guts and heart. Work at it... ask yourself 'whats not right', get the answer, sort it out. = dont be lazy.
peace.

Might of been said,
A lot of 'musicians' get in the way of the music. You may have an initial idea, but as the tune developes, try following the flow of the music / your instinct to it. Dont let yourself (the-self), get in the way of music = how you (the ego) wants the tune to be.
It might end up not where you expected, but fantastic all the same.. i find these point beautiful moments, ie: How did it end up like that? Did I really create that (with a big smile on ya face). I find it exciting when I feel I didnt have much control over the end product = the creative journey.
peace.

I see both sides of this argument.

You never know you might be deleting a hit!

However, I tend to do what ikke stated.

I have a 15 minute rule. If the beat not really crackin within 15 minutes I hit delete and start over.

Now I don't mean I rush my work. Understand professionally there will be guidelines / deadlines to live by.

Studio time is very costly.

Who wants a slow azz molasses beat maker, engineer, music producer.

Nobody in the industry!

This at home "taking all day" shitz aight to start your foundation when making beatz, but eventually you must step yo game up!

Let the arguments begin! :-)

hehehe- flexes his argument muscles....

well i do agree with both ways- id say first and foremost dont limit yourself with any time frame- once you know what you are doing- provided you have picked the right sounds it is a good idea to impose a certain limit- 15 mins is a bit drastic but if you know what you are doing it should take you no time to get your beat ....if the beat works go back and spend time twaeking it....

saying that composition shouldn't be done in the studio it should be done outside, that way your not being chraged cash to come up with something shit cos you've rushed it...

i think when you doing something special, you should just invite a person that you respect from your soul, and ask about... come on brothero! Check out my new stuff, i'm working on... and if you're stressy and your color is red while you giving him to listen that to, so  something is :? probably wrong, or you just made something that coming not from your flow, you know? i'm doing it like this, and i got on aim MY flow and i don't give a ANYTHING, about opinions, i'm improving it and improving, people catching through, then when my fundament is build i will just use designers and minor companies that propose me their ideas, you know what i'm about? then i can use my patent on the market, becouse... i.. already... would have... my name
