Keyboard or MPC for your Bassline?

I'm lacking good basslines...other than layering, have any advice?

I use both.......Sometimes I will layer a sample with a bassline from
a keyboard or I will take a sample, copy it , filter out the highs and layer it under the original sample for a bassline.......! It just depends on what fits the need for that particular sample you workin with......!

If you have no synth or bass generator try this software below

its free ware,,,will aloow you to generate the raw Wave form tones,,,,u can then layer them up & play them as u please...adding filteration etc when u feel to!!!

How about a live bass. Its never to late to learn a instrument.

That's an idea...my best friend plays.

use good samples: preferablely a multisample program. Try out mpc-tutors, you may not "love" the bass sounds, but they arent bad, plus you can see how he builds his multisamples so that you can do it in a similar fashion with your own samples.

use a sine wav program.

download a free vst, make a bass, sample it, then create a multisample.

wether you sample, or you midi up a module, or use a keyboard, I still think to get the best basslines-feel/groove (obviously other than playing it live) is to play it with a keyboard/midi controller keyboard. Pads are good, but sometimes wont cut it. and sometimes its nice to know what notes you are playing.

Chromatically spread a sample so it matches with the correct midi notes and key the sample is in, then hook up a keyboard, play your sample.
