simple question i couldn't find on the forum: will programs created on the mpc 1000 load on an mpc 2000xl. i downloaded some "kits of the week" from the akai site and tried to load them on my 2kxl and got an error...but not sure if i'm doing something wrong or if they're just not supposed to work. thanks.

a simple visit to the akaipro website will give you all the information. It contains a compatibility list of all the different mpc models.

as far as i could tell it doesnt say that there. it only says about using 2kxl data on the 1k (not the other way around).
i wanna know too cuz im thinking of losing the 1k for an XL. ive done a lot of beats on the 1k, it'd be nice to keep em if i switch

What makes you think that there would be a difference the other way around ? The 2kxl came out b4 the mpc1000 so it can not be backwards compatible IMO.
