how do i go about purchasing o.s. 3.14 from you..
i live in miami fl.. what am i looking at price wise...

i tried but it wouldnt take it..
also i have wondows xp.. that might be the problem...
could the fact i am using windows xp not allow me to save a floppy with the os??
maybe i should install win 98 onto a separate partition..

Nah, was the floppy you tried formatted in the 3000 first?

Try unraring directly to the floppy. I think if your internal OS is low you might have problems loading it. Definitly a good move to get the chips from him.

yea my o.s. on my 3000 is only 3.03
the only reason i am putting in the os is because my mpc3k wont read my cdrom drive or my zip drive..
someone on here told me its because 3.03 did not have support for scsi zip, and cdrom drives..
i also want to install an internal zip drive and i am worried that with my current o.s. my mpc wont recognize it..
are the rom chips hard to install?
i am confortable opening up my mpc and installing ram and the such.. i installed scsi onto my triton and my asr 10..
does rohan incllude instructions???? or am i better off buying the 3.11 rom chip..?

Rohan should answer those (and tell me to stop answering his mail )

But I would go with 3.14 personally, I'm sure he would guarantee it if there were any major flaws in his code, which is doubtful, and as he keeps developing it, the 3.14 chips will handle the floppy boot of the new developments better.

There are some unpredictable problems with booting into version 3.11/3.12 and 3.14 from floppy when an MPC3000 is fitted with an older OS in ROM.

Format the floppy disk in your MPC3000.

Place this floppy disk in your PC and unrar the *.SYS file directly to it.

Try booting your MPC3000 from the disk now

Any error messages

Or ...

Does the MPC3000 simply ignore the disk.

The MPC3000 OS has had SCSI device support for various devices since it's earliest incarnation, however.

Anything less than 3.08 handles ZIP drives a little weird during the formatting phase.

Anything higher than and including 3.10 has stabilised ZIP drive support and support for importing samples from AKAI CD-ROM/DISK devices.

If you're going to install an internal ZIP drive then it will be best to place the latest version in ROM, for many reasons.

The main one being that an MPC3000 can't boot an OS upgrade from a connected SCSI device.

If you purchase a ROM-SET from me then I will be happy to provide you with instructions. I doubt you'll need any though.

Are you better of purchasing a 3.11 ROM set

1. 3.14 has all of the MPC60 multi disk compatibilty fixes from 3.12.
2. 3.14 fixes some bugs and includes a couple of new features.
3. If you remove your floppy disk drive, install a ZIP and then only fit 3.11 roms you will be stuck when it comes to booting any future released upgrades, in many ways.

It's very clear that Rohan Loves the MPC3000 muh more than Akai does, better off with 3.14 on ROMs.
