hey im about to order my mpc 4000 and i know that i can upgrade the ram easily, but im going to order the mpc 4000LE from musicians friend and it says nothing about a hard drive. what do you think it will ship with and how easy is it to replace it or install a large internal hard drive? also, the le doesnt come with a cd-r, will that install just like in a computer?

hehehe, the wonderful world of buying an LE

Opening up the MPC4000 is quite a challange in itself, loads of screws - do yourself a favour, go out and buy a new phillips head screwdriver before you start - I threaded about 3 screws in my 4000, took me f00king ages to get them out. I swear Akai made these screws out of butter deliberatly :)

Installing the HDD is fairly easy, there is a guide avaliable on the internet. Here we go, this is a link to a PDF file that tells you all you need to know:

Good Hunting!

I got the LE version too, just finished installing my harddrive today. It was a pain in the ass. The fourth screw to take off the metal plate that connects to the harddrive stripped, and it took me an hour and 10 different screwdrivers to finally realize that you can unscrew it from the bottom instead. The stripped screw is still stuck in there, it went from looking like a philips head to a circle. Have fun!
