Whoa dove, you got an OBXa, that's a beats right there, very beautiful synth. I'd love to have one of those or a OB-8. Beautiful sound. Well, the nova will pale compared to the OB, but for a different flavor could be nice. I like the newer novation stuff better than the old stuff, the sound of it is different, I'd go for a K station or a KS rack before gettin a nova or super nova, unless the nova was cheap because it is kinda cute all table top and glowing buttons.
Man, You really don;t need a lot of synths, but with the analog stuff its like you want to have a bunch of them just cuz they each bring something different to the table.
Even very simple analog synths can deliver a wide range of great sounds, the AJ1 is a very capable synth, if you learn it well, you will be ahead of the game as far as sounds go. I spent hours at that thing and I kept having to save patches because I kept stumbling on cool sounds. Yeah, the envelopes are weird. If you can get one of them PG200 programers for it, or just look at a picture of one that has details, it will help you understand it. The manual for it isn;t bad either.
