upgrading ram problem

i bought a ram chip which i saw listed here as usable in the mpc1k. it's securely in the slot. however, on booting up the machine it still says 16mb is installed.... :-/

the ram was kingston 256mb 133 sodium pc133

i followed the earthing instructions so the ram shouldn't be damaged in anyway.

i slid the chip into the slot as far as it would go. the ridges on the clips either side of the clip holder dont meet the holes on the sides of the card 100% but near enough.

You have to push it in there, the holes has to line up. I felt i was going to break it but it when in.

thanks very much, sorted. didn't realise it had to be slightly raised from the base of that square.

it's best to place it in gold edge first and then stretch the springy things out a little to make the rest flat.
